CMHC energy requirements can lead to a wide range of MEP solutions, not all of which are favourable from a capital or operating cost perspective. By working closely with leading developers and energy modelers, we have evaluated these options across multiple projects to identify solutions that best balance compliance, cost, efficiency, and long-term performance.

Much of this research and development has already been completed through real projects, allowing our team to move quickly through system selection and design development, reduce redesign, and support a more efficient approvals process.

Our long-standing relationships with organizations such as Toronto Community Housing and Options for Homes have also given us a strong understanding of the priorities unique to affordable housing, from initial capital constraints to durability, maintainability, and long-term operating costs.
